Welcome to Lion Territory

2014-15

Welcome to Plain Dealing High School and my class.  I am looking forward to a great year.  We have many exciting changes at Plain Dealing High School that promise to make this a great year.  With everyone’s efforts we can make this an educational experience that will benefit all students and the community.  It takes all of us together to educate our students.  I look forward to working with all of you in our attempt to make our students the very best.

Students will be scheduled in my class for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Explorations.  The students will follow the college and career readiness standards designed to help them prepare and achieve the highest results possible on testing. In this class we will complete a combination of Accelerated Math Online, Core Concepts, (both math and English), Accelerated Reading, and writing skills. Most of the work in this class will be computer based.  We will work and review skills to insure the students’ success on the required testing to be given in the spring.

The rules and procedures are found in the “Student Code of Conduct” handbook that was given to every student.  We will go over these rules with the students, and we would like you to read them as well.  Discipline is extremely important for us to be able to reach the goals that we have for every student. Please make sure that your child has a pencil each day for class.  I thank you in advance for the opportunity to work with your child.

Please fill free to contact me at any time.  I can be reached by calling the school office at (759-2700), leaving me a voice-mail message at (759-2741), or emailing me at janie.johnston@bossierschools.org.  Calls will be returned as soon as possible.  Conferences can be scheduled during my planning period if needed.  Also, I will be contacting you from time to time with an update on your child’s success.  I am looking forward to a great year!
