💪 BIS Fall Social: Benton Community, Support Gunner’s Fight! Meet Gunner, a 12-year-old student at Benton Intermediate who loves basketball, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, playing video games, and spending time with friends and family. Recently, Gunner and his family faced an unimaginable challenge—a large tumor was discovered inside his spine, leading to a diagnosis of cancer after surgery. Since his procedure, Gunner has been unable to walk and is now beginning intensive rehab in New Orleans. His journey to recovery will be long, and the financial strain on his family is immense. His mother, Avis, a self-employed dog groomer in Benton, will be by Gunner’s side, losing her income during this time. His father, Chris, a police officer for Bossier City, will need to balance work and caring for their other three children. Please help us support Gunner and his family through this difficult time. Your donations will assist with medical expenses, lost income, and travel costs. Every contribution counts—if you cannot donate, please share Gunner’s story and keep him in your prayers. ⚽ The BHS Soccer team is coming to BIS for a mini soccer clinic! The clinic will begin immediately after school and end at 5:00 PM. (Thursday) 🚨 Our hearts are heavy as we share the devastating news that Ryder Askew, one of our 6th-grade students, was involved in a tragic accident this past weekend in Texas while attending a soccer tournament with his family. Sadly, Ryder's mother, a beloved para at Legacy, and his grandmother did not survive the accident. Ryder is currently hospitalized at Dallas Children's Hospital with serious injuries and faces a long road to recovery. In an effort to support the Askew family during this unimaginable time, we are holding a Jeans Day Fundraiser this Thursday. All proceeds will go directly to the family to help with the unexpected expenses of two funerals and other immediate needs.
